The nights are drawing in, the leaves are changing colour and swirling in the wind drifting down to the ground and the Christmas ads are already on the television! Change is upon us as the season is shifting once more.
I was in my early twenties working in the heart of the west end of London as a recruitment consultant when I learned this important life lesson. That change is the only constant in life you can be guaranteed of!
Another key lesson I learned was that the only person you can ever truly change is yourself and if you want something to change then you need to step up and take responsibility to make it happen. These two lessons combined were game-changers for me and helped me to focus on being a better manager, a better partner and a better friend. The way you live your life is as a result of your everyday choices, in fact every choice or decision you make determines the outcome. Aristotle said, 'we are what we repeatedly do'. You have the power to change your life by changing your choices. Your choices shape your actions until they become habits where practice makes them permanent. 62 days ago, I made an informed choice to change my lifestyle by joining my husband and many of our friends in living an alcohol-free life. It has been one of the best decisions I have made. The benefits are infinite and I am feeling absolutely incredible. My resting heart rate has decreased by 8 BPM, I am sleeping better and for longer continuously. I have lost weight. I feel more energised and motivated. I am glowing. Through my work as a Life Purpose Coach and with my podcast, Focus on WHY, I seek to inspire as many people as possible to take positive action to build a life they love through making intelligent, informed choices and decisions. It is my passion to see others succeed, to stretch their capabilities to achieve their dreams and to help them make any necessary changes they desire in their lifestyles. To build my businesses and achieve my goals in life, it has required patience, knowledge, successful habits, systemisation, enthusiasm, positivity and daily action. I started small, focusing on making small changes in my life knowing that if I focused on just one thing each day as a minimum that intentional action would take me closer to achieving my goals. This is why knowing your purpose and having a plan are so crucial for the change you want to see to take place. Otherwise you have no map, no direction, no focus. It’s a simple formula. If you want your life to change, it is up to you. You have to make it happen. You have to take action. Focus on Change!
ACTION POINT - Ready for a change in life? Remember, focus on only what you can change!
