Focus on Milestones

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

In life there are many milestones for you to focus on. Some are easier to achieve than others. There will be peaks and troughs where you will experience success and failure. Today I celebrate a milestone with the release of my 250th episode of Focus on WHY and I am thrilled to say that the podcast is thriving. I will raise a glass of fizz tonight to all those who have played their part in its success. Thank you to my guests, my listeners and of course to my husband Jon who has edited every single episode. How many podcasts actually make it this far? I couldn’t find the exact statistics however what I did find is that a large number of podcasts don’t even make it past 21 episodes. With an average lifespan of around 174 days they suffer from podfade and disappear into the ether. Podcasting is all about the long game and consistency with quality over time matters. Today celebrating the 250th episode I recognise that podcasting is about showing up for my loyal and growing audience. Focus on WHY is thriving. When I released episode 100 it was in 62 countries, for 200 it was in 87 countries. Focus on WHY is now being downloaded in 103 countries and still holds its position of being in the top 1% of all 2,772,610 podcasts. I often get asked why do I choose podcasting when there are so many other different ways to reach your audience today. The answer is simple. I love podcasting and it is my preferred speaking medium. I make good audio and have carved my own way in this space. I am respected as being a great podcast interviewer. Interviewing comes naturally to me or perhaps it’s because I have had years of experience interviewing thousands of people in my previous role as a recruitment consultant it is a skill I have honed over the years. Either way, there is no denying that podcasting is my thing! My chosen mission and responsibility as a podcaster and as a life purpose coach is to gift a living legacy of inspiration, insight and knowledge to create long-lasting, positive, global ripple effects. I shine the light on purpose, fulfilment and curiosity to empower others to forge their own paths. I don't work simply to work, I work to fulfil my needs and my values. Reaching this milestone of 250 episodes on Focus on WHY, I recognise that I have found my ‘ikigai’ in life. That sweet spot where I get to combine my passion with my profession with my mission and my vocation. I love every second and this is clear in the value my clients receive when working with them. Remember success takes time and effort so make sure you enjoy the journey! Focus on all of the milestones you reach! Celebrate each win no matter how big or small they are. ACTION POINT What is the next milestone you will be achieving? How will you be celebrating?
