Focus on Purpose in Motion

We often imagine purpose as a static, shining beacon – something you discover once, then follow for the rest of your life. However, what if true purpose isn’t about certainty or having one grand plan but about movement? A living interplay of reflection and the small, intentional actions you take every day.
I see purpose as an ongoing process—a dance between thought and deed, pause and step, learning and doing. Purpose is not merely about knowing what matters; it’s found in what you do with that knowledge, moment by moment, as the circumstances of your life shift beneath your feet.
There’s wisdom in allowing yourself to pause after a significant change rather than immediately rushing into a new identity. In this week's Reflections with Actions ep.532, I reminded you that the space between letting go and moving forward is fertile ground. In that pause, meaning can surface; in that uncertainty, your next direction becomes clearer. It’s not about becoming stuck in endless reflection. The shift comes when you take the learning and put it into motion—altering your path, reaching out for help, making one purposeful choice after another.
Purpose in motion also means taking responsibility for what you can influence while being compassionate with yourself about what you can’t. It can mean clearing away what no longer serves you – outdated beliefs, commitments or even relationships that no longer fit who you are becoming. There is immense power in action: having the conversation, letting go of an outdated story, choosing connection over assumption, showing compassion even when it’s challenging.
Purpose is less about mastering the grand why than about living your why—through thoughtful reflection, brave action and meaningful connection. You don’t have to have it all worked out. No one truthfully ever does. So, let purpose be a journey that unfolds with every small step you choose to take.
So, rather than asking yourself, ‘Have I found my purpose?’ perhaps ask yourself, ‘How am I putting my purpose into motion?’
Focus on Purpose in Motion. Focus on Why.
REFLECTION WITH ACTION
Where in your life are you being invited to pause, reflect and notice what you’ve learnt before deciding what comes next?
Choose one purposeful action you can take this week based on what you already know matters to you. It doesn’t need to be big. Just make it intentional.
