Focus on Prosperity

ree

One insight from my recent podcast conversation 474 Prosperity Pathways with Joel Salomon has stayed with me: his conscious shift in language from talking about money to talking about prosperity. While that might sound like a subtle change, it reframed the remainder of our discussion in a meaningful way. Joel doesn’t see himself as a ‘money coach’. He calls himself a ‘prosperity coach’ and that small distinction opened up a much larger conversation about how we live, why we work and what it means to truly thrive.

Joel’s view of prosperity is expansive. It’s not just about wealth accumulation or smart financial planning. It’s about alignment between our values, our purpose and our resources. He emphasised that when people are constantly in survival mode, worrying about how to make it to the next pay cheque, their capacity to focus, to serve or to create meaningfully is severely diminished. ‘You can’t serve others if you can’t eat’, he reminded us. A simple truth often overlooked.

What I appreciated most was how Joel linked prosperity not just to having more, but to being more free—free from financial anxiety, yes, but also free to contribute, to create and to live with intention. He encourages people to define their own version of prosperity, one that might not follow conventional paths but is deeply resonant and personally authentic.

This week, take a moment to consider your own definition of prosperity. Is it purely financial or does it include health, fulfilment, creative expression, strong relationships and the ability to contribute meaningfully to others?

Pick one area of your life–your work, your family, your personal growth–and ask: What would greater prosperity look like beyond money? Identify three small actions you could take to create more abundance, ease or purpose in that space. Then try one. Notice what shifts internally or externally when you view prosperity not just as what's in your bank account but as the quality of life you're creating.

Focus on Prosperity. Focus on Why.

REFLECTION WITH ACTION: Could a more holistic view of prosperity be the bridge between financial freedom and a more purposeful life?
