Focus on Meaningful Milestones

ree

Some dates carry deeper meaning than others and for me, Wednesday 10 September 2025 is one of those days. On this date, three significant milestones in my work and life converge, each deeply aligned with my values of brilliance, connectedness, transformation, contribution and legacy.

Firstly, through professional alignment, as my book Focus on Why, co-authored with my late grandfather and published by The Right Book Company, is a finalist in the 2025 Business Book Awards in the Work and Life category. Not only is it recognition of my purpose-driven work but it’s also a celebration of my contribution towards creating a living legacy.

Secondly, with personal responsibility, as on that very day I’ll be celebrating two years alcohol free. This decision, grounded in clarity, joy and health, has been one of the most powerful ways I’ve honoured myself. Also a reminder that intentional living often requires the courage to say ‘no’ to what no longer serves you and ‘yes’ to what does.

Thirdly, through authentic self-leadership, as exactly two years ago in 2023, I reached out to Dr Elizabeth Kilbey, the psychologist who had previously diagnosed my son with ADHD. On the same day I decided to prioritise my health and no longer drink alcohol I sent an email to book in an appointment for myself. That email eventually led to my own ADHD diagnosis and was a turning point transforming how I thrive both personally and professionally enabling me to align more fully with my authentic self.

None of these three meaningful milestones occurred through coincidence. They’re the result of aligned action not reaction. Over the last two years, initially there was resistance, fear even, and many a temptation to press pause on my writing until everything ‘felt right’ or when ‘I knew a bit more about the topic of purpose’. Yet what I came to understand was that growth didn’t have to be perfect or linear. Self-leadership is about owning your choices, even when uncomfortable. The resistance I felt? I recognised that it wasn't to be viewed as a roadblock and it’s now become a signal that transformation is entirely possible when I move forward with self-compassion.

So, for me, 10 September 2025 is more than another date in the calendar. It’s a celebration that creating a purposeful life isn’t about waiting for the perfect moment but about taking intentional reflection with action to honour who I am and who I'm becoming.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey to date. Your encouragement and belief have made these three significant milestones even more meaningful. Here’s to celebrating not only the achievements themselves but the growth, courage and alignment they each represent.
