Focus on Being

What if the most powerful tool for decision-making wasn’t outside of you but within? You can get so wrapped up in the constant ‘doing’ that you often forget the power of simply ‘being’. Yet it’s in those quieter moments, when you slow down and tune in, that you reconnect with your inner wisdom.

Intuition is not abstract or elusive. It’s a felt sense, a knowing that arises when you listen to your body and honour what’s true for you. Whether you’re navigating a career decision, a family challenge or a creative block, learning to trust that inner compass can lead to choices that are more aligned, grounded and authentic.

However, trusting intuition requires presence and this requires you to slow down which can feel uncomfortable at first, especially if you’re used to measuring success by how much you do or how fast you move. Being still, even for a moment, is not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength.

When you focus on 'being', this enables you to create space for reflection, play, rest and recalibration. It means checking in with yourself regularly and asking how does this feel in my body? Does this choice expand me or contract me? Where am I overriding my own truth to meet someone else’s expectations?

Small practices help build this awareness. A conscious breath before a meeting. A pause before saying ‘yes’. A moment of play or curiosity when things feel stuck. These acts are not indulgent, they’re essential. Ultimately, leading a meaningful life isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what matters intentionally, honestly and in alignment with who you are.

So, today, give yourself permission to pause. Listen inward. Trust what you hear because the more you focus on ‘being’, the more purposeful your ‘doing’ becomes.

Start to notice areas, big or small, where you’re moving automatically, without checking in with yourself. It could be how you start your mornings, how you respond to requests or how you spend your free time.

Now choose one moment today to pause and check in with your body before making a decision. Does this feel expansive or constrictive? Energising or depleting? Even a 10-second pause can help you shift from autopilot to alignment. Reflect afterwards on what difference it made to focus on being.

Focus on Being. Focus on Why!

REFLECTION WITH ACTION: Where in your life are you acting out of habit rather than intention?
