Focus on Clarity

Updated: Feb 19, 2021

“In a world deluged by irrelevant information, clarity is power.” Yuval Noah Harari What is clarity? Clarity is a clearness or lucidity as to perception or understanding. It is a freedom from indistinctness or ambiguity. Clarity in life leads to focus and direction. When you have clarity, you build from it. Clarity is the foundation for all you do in life. Clarity. You seek it but how do you know when you have found it? “Your vision will become clear only when you look in to your heart. Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.” Carl Jung Do you have clarity? Do you know WHY you want to achieve your goals? A moment of clarity can often be described as having an epiphany. Knowing what you want is not always as simple as it sounds though. It is important to take time for yourself to gain clarity. When you have clarity around why you want to achieve your goals and your life priorities, decision making becomes much easier. What I love about the new year is all the new energy. Opportunities for fresh beginnings and reflections are in abundance. At this time of year, there is an increased level of focus on goals and vision for the future. Your enthusiasm about what you will achieve in the upcoming year is at its peak. This year is going to be your best year ever! However as the weeks of January pass, you may slip back into old habits and your effervescence may fade into a distant memory as you convince yourself that what you dreamed of was just not possible. Don’t let that happen! Notice these early signs of energy ebbing and procrastination. Correct your course back onto your planned trajectory. Often the solution is found after a series of investigative questions where you don’t accept the first answer and continue to explore deeper. It’s a head to heart exercise. Keep using the answer you have just given to the preceding question and ask why is it so important to...(insert previous answer)? Keep going until you feel you have reached the root cause. Using the process of root cause analysis or the Five Whys technique will help you to get to the true core of the matter. It is a fabulous exercise and one which I use with my coaching clients. It helps to identify whether what you are feeling is the real source or whether there is something else that lies deeper at the core. “It is only with the heart that one can see clearly, for the most essential things are invisible to the eye.” Hans Christian Andersen It is so easy to procrastinate and not to take action today however it is your future self who would suffer as a result. Don’t let this happen to you. Continue to take small steps forward each day and you’ll thank yourself tomorrow! Looking for your life purpose, clarity and direction? Reach out to me now.

ACTION POINT Get an accountability partner, coach or mentor. Tell someone what you are planning to do this year. Make it as public as you can so that you are committed to achieving what you really desire.
